VISUAL INSPECTION
imageThere are two types of batteries that are potentially affected. Please follow the instructions below for each battery to determine if you have one of the suspect batteries.


Step 1 Please turn off and unplug your portable computer before removing the battery for visual inspection.
Step 2 Remove the battery from the portable computer.
Step 3 Following the instructions below, identify the suspect batteries by looking at the battery label.

1st Battery Type

Check the first 11 alphanumeric characters on the barcode on the edge of the battery (circled in red in the above picture). If the characters match the set of alphanumeric characters below, go to step 5. If the characters do not match, you do not have a suspect battery.

Check the 12 alphanumeric characters on the upper row of the barcode on the edge of the battery (circled in red in the above picture). If the characters match any of the 4 sets of alphanumeric characters in the table below, go to step 2. If the characters do not match, you do not have a suspect battery.

Check to see if the 4 alphanumeric characters immediately after the second hyphen (circled in red in the picture below), match the following: “061D”

If this set of alphanumeric characters match the above, your battery pack is a suspect battery and qualifies for the replacement program.
Find the alphanumeric characters on the upper line in the left column of the following table, and check to see if the 11 alphanumeric characters on the lower line (circled in red in the picture below) match the respective left column.

6027B0007901 First 4 digits is “6111” and last 3 digits is “ASF”
6027B0008001 First 4 digits is any of “6109”, “6110” or “6111” and last 3 digits is “ASF”
6027B0010101 First 4 digits is “6107” and last 3 digits is “ASF”
6027B0010201 First 4 digits is “6314” and last 3 digits is “ASF”

If the characters detailed in steps 4 and 5 above match your battery, please write down the first 11 digit alphanumeric characters as “Battery No”, and the 4 digits following the second hyphen along with the 5 digits following the third hyphen (including the hyphen), as “Battery Serial No”. If the characters detailed in steps 4 and 5 above match your battery, please write down the 12 alphanumeric characters in the top row as “Battery No”, and the 11 alphanumeric characters in the bottom row as “Battery Serial No”.
