VISUAL INSPECTION

There are two types of batteries that are potentially affected. Please follow the instructions below for each battery to determine if your battery is affected.

  1. Please switch off and unplug your Notebook PC from the AC power before removing the battery for visual inspection.
  2. Remove the battery from the notebook PC.
  3. Following the instructions below to identify the batteries by looking at the battery label.

Battery Type 1

Bar code label with alphanumeric characters aligned in a single line:

1. Check the first 11 alphanumeric characters on the barcode on the edge of the battery (picture 1). If the characters match any of the 6 sets of alphanumeric characters in the table below, proceed to step 2. If the characters do not match, your battery is not affected.

2. Check the 4 alphanumeric characters immediately after the second hyphen (picture 2), If they start with any of the following: “063N*” through “063V*” “064*” “065*” your battery is a potentially affected battery and qualifies for the exchange program.

3. If the characters detailed in steps 1 and 2 above match your battery, please write down the first 11 digit alphanumeric characters as “Battery No”, and the 4 digits following the second hyphen along with the 5 digits following the third hyphen (including the hyphen), as “Battery Serial No”.

Battery Type 2

Bar code label with alphabet and numeric characters aligned in two lines:

1. Check the 12 alphanumeric characters on the upper row of the barcode on the edge of the battery (picture 3). If the characters match any of the 4 sets of alphanumeric characters in the table below, go to step 2. If the characters do not match, your battery is not affected.

2. Check to see if the 11 alphanumeric characters on the lower line (picture 4), fall under one of the three categories in the table below:

First 3 digits are from “6323” to “6331” and last 3 digits are “ASF”

First 2 digits is “64” and last 3 digits are “ASF”

First 2 digits is “65” and last 3 digits are “ASF”

3. If the characters detailed in steps 1 and 2 above match your battery, please write down the 12 alphanumeric characters in the top row as “Battery No”, and the 11 alphanumeric characters in the bottom row as “Battery Serial No”.


Battery Type 3

Orange colored label:

In addition to the above labels, some batteries may only have the orange-colored label (shown in the picture below) on them. If your battery has an orange label, you do NOT have a suspect battery.
